The tetsubo, also known as the kanabō, was a heavy iron or iron-studded club used by exceptionally strong warriors during the Sengoku period. Designed to crush armour, shatter weapons and overwhelm opponents through sheer force, it became one of the most feared melee weapons of feudal Japan.

Although uncommon on the battlefield due to its weight, the tetsubo became closely associated with legendary samurai, warrior monks and mythical heroes. Its fearsome appearance and destructive power have made it one of the most iconic weapons in Japanese military history and popular culture.
