The yari became one of the defining weapons of the Sengoku period. Long yari formations allowed ashigaru infantry to counter cavalry charges, maintain disciplined battle lines and support elite samurai during prolonged engagements.

Under the leadership of Takeda Shingen, the TAKEDA CLAN became renowned for its battlefield discipline and tactical excellence. While famous for its cavalry, the clan also relied heavily on well-trained ashigaru armed with long yari to hold the line, protect commanders and support decisive attacks.
